Cajun Fishing

I had a lot of fun with the OWH World Card Making Blog Hop.  Thanks to everyone who stopped by and left messages on my blog. All of the cards were great and the best part is that the heroes will have some fabulous cards to send home to their loved ones.

I am using the OWH Card Sketch #193 for my card today.  For the color I found some inspiration on Dynamic Duos.  At first Cajun Craze and Island Indigo seemed like a stretch for me, but then I found a way to combine them that made sense to me.

I used the stamp set By the Tide.  I stamped the coral/seaweed with Cajun Craze ink at full strength at the bottom of the Very Vanilla card layer then stamped off twice to create the background.  I stamped the fish in Island Indigo twice (stamped off once).  I added a Cajun Craze and Island Indigo layer behind the stamping and then attached the whole thing to a Crumb Cake card base.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Crumb Cake & Black

I love using online color challenges as inspiration for cards.  They push me to combine colors that I wouldn't normally use together.  Here is this week's challenge at Dynamic Duos:

This card is very simple and yet interesting.  Normally I try to create my own texture on a card with stamping, dry or wet embossing, etc.  I have been pushing myself more to use designer series paper on my cards.  I love the colors in the various paper sets that Stampin' Up creates and I always order WAY more than I will ever use.  No more.  Similar to my card earlier this week, this card also uses Modern Medley DSP.

Hope you enjoy this card.  Feel free to leave a comment below.  Thanks for visiting.

Birthday Pennants

Birthday greetings are featured today.  When I first saw the colors at Dynamic Duos, I immediately thought flowers.  But then when I saw the sketch at Technostamper, it seemed like a great layout for a masculine birthday card.

I turned the sketch horizontally and then strung the pennants together with Baker’s Twine.  It is really a fairly clean and simple card, but it still looks great.

Here is my card:

Hope you like my card!

Hexagons in Plum

For today's card, I turned to a couple of paper crafting challenge blogs that I have played before.  These sites give me such inspiration and I look forward to seeing the new challenges each week.

The challenges are Dynamic Duos #68 and Seize the Sketch #3:

The color I chose to combine with Perfect Plum is Smoky Slate.  I don't really even consider myself a "gray" person and yet I have been turning to the grays (Smoky Slate, Basic Gray) lately as good neutrals that coordinate with just about anything.

Five-Way Flower Notecards

I have been wanting to try the Five-Way Flower Stamp from Stampin' Up since I received it.  But the flower never really fit the card I was working on - and I have lots of other flower stamps.  LOL.  Today was the day.  I was very inspired by two challenges - again a sketch challenge a color challenge.  Here are the links:

Dynamic Duos Challenge #67 & Seize the Sketch #2

The cool thing about the Five Way Flower is that it coordinates with 5 of Stampin' Up's Scallop Circle punches.  For today's card, I only used 3 layers, 2 are punched and added to the card with dimensional adhesive.  I used the greetings from the Lacy and Lovely stamp set.

Once I made the first one, I was hooked on the monochromatic look of the Calypso Coral and Crisp Cantaloupe.  Here are some other colors I tried.  I changed up the sentiment on the other colors.

The colors are Island Indigo & Coastal Cabana, Strawberry Slush & Blushing Bride, and Elegant Eggplant & Wisteria Wonder.

What a fun group of cards to give to a friend.

Hexagons to the Challenge

Today’s card was inspired by two online challenges.  For the layout, I used the sketch from Clean and Simple Stamping.

For the colors, I used the Dynamic Duos combination.  Pool Party and Basic Black aren't colors I would normally pair together, but they were a lot of fun to work with.  I added some Very Vanilla as a neutral background color.

Hope you enjoy my card.
